Language Learning Space Wins Again

November 27 2014

Education Services Australia is proud to announce that the digital Language Learning Space  is the Australian regional winner of the 2014 IMS Learning Impact Awards. It was chosen from a shortlist of fifteen finalists, and will go on to represent Australia at the global awards next year.

The Learning Impact Awards are designed to recognize the most impactful use of technology worldwide in support of learning.

Education Services Australia CEO Susan Mann said ‘The Learning Impact Awards are internationally recognised within the education resources sector. We’re pleased by this significant acknowledgement of the innovative and educational value of the Language Learning Space.'

This announcement adds to the acclaim that Education Services Australia has received for its suite of digital language resources.

The Language Learning Space has won an Outstanding Achievement Award at the Interactive Media Awards in the United States for each of the last two years, and CanUHanyu , the Chinese Language Learning App, won the 2013 Australian Mobile Awards in the Education and Family category.

The Language Learning Space for Chinese and for Indonesian enables students and teachers to learn, connect and collaborate online. It provides students and teachers with specifically designed activities, resources, tools and language learning opportunities.

Australian students studying Chinese and Indonesian language have access to online lessons and learning challenges. Teachers are able to deliver language learning programmes, monitor student progress, communicate with other teachers within Australia by video and web conferencing and engage in professional learning.

The related apps, CanUHanyu and RasaBahasa, add a further, game-based dimension to language learning. The Language Learning Space will serve the needs of even more teachers and students when the Language Learning Space for Japanese is launched next month.

The Language Learning Space, CanUHanyu and RasaBahasa were produced in conjunction with the digital production house 2and2 and funded by the Australian Government Department of Education.
